Woman Crush Wednesday Park Min-Young

Hey! Hey! Hey! Today is Woman Crush Wednesday! I am excited to announce that today we are going to be talking about my girl crush Park Min Young!

Now, to be honest, I didn't realize that the first drama that I'd seen her in was City Hunter. I'd watched that drama in my early K-drama exploration phase and I don't remember Kim Na Na very well. While
I remember liking this drama, it's not something I can recommend because I only have vague images of this drama floating in my head... So On To The Next!

For years, "Healer", was my 2nd favorite K-drama of all time! It's been demoted to number 4, but it's still in my top 5! This drama was incredible, and I was so sucked into the performance that I hadn't realized that I'd just watched Park Min Young in City Hunters 3 months prior lol! She plays spunky investigative reporter Chae Young-Shin. This character is hilarious, courageous, brash, nosey and just an overall pleasure to watch. I was mesmerized by the chemistry between Park Min Young and Jin Chang-Wook. Episode 15 was spectacular. The first 5 minutes fills me with so much feels, it's so sweet it can make your teeth rot! I haven't ever seen a negative review on this drama, and for me, this is where my crush with Park Min Young began.

It took me a while to give "Queen For Seven Days" a chance. I read the reviews and everyone wrote about how sad it was... but there was something about the poster that sucked me in. Boy am I glad that I gave it a try. Warning! It made me cry so hard! I love this drama so much. The storytelling of this drama was executed masterfully. Shin Chae-Kyung was a masterful character. The sheer love, loyalty, and insight this character possessed were so beautiful. I believe Park Min Young could have chemistry with a rock because I shipped her with both Yeon Woo-Jin, and Lee Dong-Gun. It was amazing how she navigated through two brothers in love with her. Despite being in such a precarious situation, Shin Chae-Kyung handled every aspect of her life with utter class.

"What's Wrong With Secretary Kim" is hands down one of the best comedies I've ever seen. Fiesty and naive Kim Mi-So was so refreshing to see. Kim Mi-So had a no-nonsense approach to life, and though I felt she was incredibly exploited by her family, she knew how to execute with perfection. This screwball comedy highlighted the thick chemistry between Park Seo Joon and Kim Mi So. They were able to bounce back and forth between each other and it was fascinating to watch. The way the audio highlighted certain facial expressions was amazing to see.

Add some joy to your day by watching a drama by Park Min-Young!
Happy Drama Watching.

What's Wrong With Secretary Kim? Review

The first episode of this drama was pure comedy genius. The audio in this drama added so much!!! I consistently laughed so hard almost every episode. The writing was witty, the dialogue was reminiscent of a 1940's screwball. For all of its hilarity, the mystery aspect of this show was thrilling. The serendipitous connection between the characters is typical of K-Drama's, but it added so much value to the story.

Park Seo Joon, one of the greatest kissing male leads of all time, plays narcissist Lee Yeong Joon. The quirks of his eyebrows, the tilts of his head... every minimalistic movement added so much to the overall delivery of this character. Seo Joon played the typical chaebol male lead, but he added a je ne sais quoi that I've never seen before. Yeong Joon is oblivious, persistent, thoughtful, self-sacrificing, a bulldozer wrapped into one. The romantic gestures were wildly over the top, the jealous inquisitions were hilarious, and the chemistry was off the charts. This unique character dragged me through the feels, despite myself. The smoking chemistry between Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young added gasoline to the hardcore ship I had of them.

Park Min Young plays Secretary Kim Mi Soo. Like the typical female lead, she is self-sacrificing and has a heart of gold. She is also the long-suffering secretary that delivers a solution before the problem is even addressed. Kim Mi Soo should be a director, a chairman, or something with a higher pay grade and more power because she is integral in making that company run. She's a doting baby sister, she's the bridge of communication between her boss and her co-workers, and she is the glue that holds everything together. I loved this character because she was willing to give up her career to focus on her self after a decade of making unimaginable sacrifices for her family. Unfortunately, her quest to find herself doesn't manifest to it's fullest potential but I think the way she grew in the series was phenomenal.

Lee Yeong Joons best friend Park Yoo Shik plays a heady comedic role in this drama as well. He delivered every line perfectly and helped to elevate some of the heavier emotions with his sardonic commentary. In a strange way, he was essential to this drama. Kang Ki Young always makes a lasting impression, and I'm really happy to see him consistently in the drama's that I watch.

The ensemble cast was just as entertaining as the leads. Each of them had a pretty developed storyline, but I will admit that I skipped some parts because the cringe factor was just too much for me to handle. However, I had a great time watching this drama and I would recommend it to anyone. They also had shoutout episode to "Because It's My First Life" and it made this drama all the sweeter for me.

Queen for Seven Days

Queen For Seven Days

I stumbled across this beautiful show when I was in yet, another desperate search for a drama to keep me engaged. From the very first episode I was hooked!

The show introduces two young characters navigating their lives in the valiant attempt to validate themselves to their families.

Lee Yeok  played by the impressive child actor Baek Seung Hwan, wants to emphatically prove that he isn't after his brothers throne, while Shin Chae Kyung played by the talented Park Si-Eun wants to close the distance placed by her parents.

These children serendipitously smack into each other and they begin a life long love affair.

Meanwhile King Lee Yoong played by Lee Dong Gun is brutal ruler who tries to prove to his deceased father that he can be a great King. This was one of my favorite characters. He had so many elements to his personality and to his decisions. Though he was bat crazy and beyond cruel... I couldn't help but love him.

Yeon Woo Jin plays the adult character of Lee Yeok, and Park Min Young plays the adult character of Shin Chae Kyung. I couldn't have asked for better chemistry. These two expressed an array of emotions and thoughts in ways that I'm not sure other actors could've done.

All of the characters engaged with each other in heartbreaking, and funny ways. There wasn't a single episode that didn't make me cry and then laugh hysterically. As a viewer I witnessed misunderstandings, characters being manipulated,  and characters disastrous attempts of resolving issues. Yet, the dialogue expressed empathy, yearning, angst a magical way.

I adore this drama so much. My heart got shredded to pieces every episode, but it was well worth it.
The best thing about this show was the depth each character portrayed. I couldn't hate the King because I got to understand how his brain ticked. At his cruelest moments he was trying to protect the ones he loved. Even though Lee Yeok is a great male lead, we still got to witness his character flaws, which humanized his journey from prince to King. Chae Kyung was a character we got to see grow and mature, and it was all heartbreaking!

This is one of the great Saeguks along with Empress Ki. I am thankful that I found it fairly late so I could binge watch it, I can't imagine the agony of waiting week to week, but definitely would bring a box of tissues, because this drama drags you through the feels.
